The citadel The citadel is an Iconic Islamic monument that was built 1176 A.D during the middle ages by the great sultan Salahudin as a defensive fort to face the attacks of the crusaders . Later it was used as a place of resident for the whole Muslim rulers till the 19 century . In the citadel was built a famous land mark and very unique architecture of a mosque which is the Alabaster Mosque built by Mohamed Ali Pasha around 1830 and took them 19 years to be built .

The citadel is an iconic Islamic monument that was built by the great sultan Salah El_din in the 19th, it was used as a place for all Muslim rulers till the 19th century . In the citadel there is a famous landmark and very unique architecture of a mosque, which is the Alabaster Mosque. After it was built by Mohamed Ali Pasha around 1830 and it took 19 years to be built . There you will have your lunch. You will see Coptic Cairo. Coptic Cairo is a part of Old Cairo which includes structural elements of the three heavenly religions (Jewish ,Christianity and Islam ) , the mosque was constructed in two phases between 1869 and 1912. Khoshiar Hanem, the mother of Khedive Ismail, commissioned this mosque, like other mosques in Cairo. The Mausoleum of Farouk I of Egypt is inside the mosque and he was the last King of Egypt and the Sudan. King Farouk I died on 18 March 1965, thus making him the last ruler of the Muhammad Ali Dynasty. Reza Shah Pahlavi of Iran was buried in this mosque also.( The tour takes 4 hours)
